Main Street Gettysburg
Partnering, Leading, Investing
The future of Gettysburg is rooted in its history.
The atmosphere of Gettysburg is not far from what it was at the time of Lincoln’s famous Address, but the pressures of modern life are taking a toll on some of our most important historic resources.
Main Street Gettysburg is a non-profit organization
committed to the preservation and revitalization of historic Gettysburg
for the benefits of its citizens, businesses, and visitors.

Enhancing the Visitor Experience
The Gettysburg Interpretive
Plan In 1998 the Borough of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg
National Military Park initiated the Gettysburg Interpretive Plan
(GIP) project as part of the Gettysburg Historic Pathway Plan.
Main Street Gettysburg was assigned a lead role in building community
partnerships and developing the interpretive plan. As a result,
an agreement was signed uniting several diverse local organizations
and two Commonwealth agencies. The GIP examined local history,
identified historic sites and resources, and created a master
plan for interpreting the towns history with the goal of
deepening and extending the visitor experience. A brief
summary of the GIP is also available.
