Main Street Gettysburg is implementing the Gettysburg Interpretive Plan, a comprehensive plan created by the leaders of this community that builds upon the historical identity of the town and provides opportunity for economic growth and prosperity to the community.

Enhancing the Visitor Experience

The Gettysburg Interpretive Plan • In 1998 the Borough of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg National Military Park initiated the Gettysburg Interpretive Plan (GIP) project as part of the Gettysburg Historic Pathway Plan. Main Street Gettysburg was assigned a lead role in building community partnerships and developing the interpretive plan. As a result, an agreement was signed uniting several diverse local organizations and two Commonwealth agencies. The GIP examined local history, identified historic sites and resources, and created a master plan for interpreting the town’s history with the goal of deepening and extending the visitor experience. A brief summary of the GIP is also available.
